Essence of India promotes unique handmade art collection from various artists. The current collection is based on thread/bead (2-D mixed media) and sand techniques.
What is Thread Painting?
The golden and silver Thread Paintings are the first of many collections to come from Essence of India. The wall pieces in this category can be classified as 2-D mixed media art.
The designs in this line include Ohm Shri Ganesh, Shri Ganesh, Ohm, Ohm Shri Ganesh with Diya, Tabla Taal, Floret Vase, and the Wedding Elephants.
Each of these designs depicts aspects of the culture, tradition and beauty of the Indus subcontinent. Each wall piece is typically made on coated or textured art paper, silk cloth or hardboard.
The Golden and Silver thread that outlines and sometimes fills the images are individually glued strand by strand onto the surface and are then accented with beads, sand or paint. Depending on the amount of complexity each piece takes anywhere from 10hrs to 40hrs to complete.
What is Sand Painting?
The Sand Paintings are our new addition to Essence of India art collection since Jan, 2007. The Sand Paintings includes animals, god, landscape and portrait. Each Sand Painting is typically made on hardboard. Artist first creates sand using different types of stones by grinding them together. Then sand will be separated based on the thickness and size. Once sand is separated, artists glued it on entire image and apply final touches.
